During the year of 1968 America was nearly torn apart because of all the disunity that took place between the government and the people. This was about the time when the people lost faith in the government of the US. The US were determined to send more and more troops to fight in Vietnam and claimed that they were doing well but in reality the people knew that the soldiers were being slaughtered. The citizens felt that they had been lied to and cheated. This caused a very big gap between the people and the government. At first the citizens had believed all that the government was doing was right but they soon realized that they were being lied to.
